Project: Mammoth in Pottspark
In this project, we were tasked with bringing a real prehistoric creature to life – a life-size mammoth as an animatronic figure for a theme park. The goal was to create an impressive, cartoon-like appearance that would captivate visitors visually while simultaneously coming to life through movement.
Mammut Design & CAD Planning
It all started with the idea. In close collaboration with the client, we developed an initial concept that encompassed both the external appearance and the planned movements.
The animal was then modeled in 3D—from the basic body shapes to the finest details such as fur texture. The digital model served as the basis for all subsequent steps.

Technical implementation & mechanics
Based on the 3D model, the interior of the mammoth was planned: a robust steel structure forms the skeleton, followed by the installation of the mechanics for the trunk movements.
The mammoth is supposed to use its trunk to turn a crank, which in turn powers a ride. This creates the illusion that the mammoth itself is turning the "cliff slingshot" under its own power.
Surface & Design
The exterior design was created with great attention to detail. The feel, color, and structure were coordinated to create a beautiful appearance. High-quality materials ensure that the Mammut is both weatherproof and durable— perfect for continuous use in the park.

Delivery & commissioning
After completion in our workshop, the mammoth was transported, assembled on-site, and integrated into the theme park's existing "Cliff Slingshot" setting . The movements were fine-tuned on-site until everything was perfectly aligned. Since then, the animatronic mammoth has welcomed visitors of all ages every day—a true highlight for the park.
