Project: Orca in Hungary
For a water-themed area, we were tasked with bringing two very special figures to life: two life-size orcas, which serve as an impressive animatronic attraction. The challenge was to realistically capture the powerful elegance of this marine mammal—in form, movement, and charisma.
Orka Design & CAD Planning
Together with the client, we developed the basic idea: an orca that impresses not only with its size but also with its natural movements. Based on this, we created a detailed 3D model that showcases all of the typical characteristics—from the curved dorsal fin to the striking black and white markings.

Technical implementation & mechanics
The inner workings of the orcas were equipped with tailor-made mechanisms that enable specific movements: for example , raising the head, opening the mouth or swinging the fins sideways, the up and down movement of the dorsal fin and the opening of an air hole on the upper side of the face.
These sequences of movements were carefully coordinated to create the impression of flowing, organic behavior – after all, one of them is supposed to move in the water.
One orca, which is only shown about halfway up, can dive up and stick its snout out of the water. The other orca can also move on a track that also allows for up-and-down movement. This allows it to peek out of the water and squirt some water into the air with its blowhole – just like a real orca!
Surface & Design
The exterior design features weatherproof, durable materials that are both visually and tactilely appealing. The surface is crafted to resemble the moist, smooth skin of a real orca.

Delivery & commissioning
After construction, the figures were installed directly in the park. Their movements were fine-tuned on-site to ensure the orcas fit perfectly into the scenery. Since then, they have been an integral part of the themed area, delighting visitors with their impressive presence and lifelike movements.
